Investigating Various Severity Factor Behaviors for Operational Risk Assessment

Operational risk assessment is a stochastic approach to quantify the operational security of power systems. In this study, interrelation between severity factor and risk, two important parameters in assessment, analyzed. Four different definitions factor, based on results from network studies, are proposed applied, resulting values for indices. The behavior these indices analyzed under varying operating conditions compared with individual contingencies. This study confirms importance definition shows that multiple required obtain clear picture transmission system. One index may increase while another decreases.
